Remembering Freedom Isn’t Free

Memorial Day Memorial Day is an American holiday, which is observed on the last Monday of May, to honor men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.

Memorial Day is more than just part of another long-weekend holiday. It is a day for remembering and honoring the courageous men and women who have died in our military’s service. In the last 100 years alone, more than 600,000 American men and women have given their lives so that we may live in freedom.

Formerly known as Decoration Day, this holiday originated after the American Civil War.  Mourners decorated with flowers the graves of both the Union and Confederate soldiers, who died in that conflict.

Monday, as we remember and honor those who have served in our nation’s defense and those who have given their lives for the same, we ask that you take a few moments to quiet your soul to pray, mourn, and remember.

While we reflect on the lives of those who have gone before us to their eternal reward, let us give thanks for what religious freedoms we still enjoy. As we do, we must also remember the One Who gave His life for our ultimate freedom

O How He Loves You And Me
By Kurt Kaiser

O how He loves you and me!
O how He loves you and me!
He gave His life; what more could He give?
O how He loves you
O how He loves me;
O how He loves you and me!

Jesus to Calvary did go;
His love for sinners to show.
What He did there, brought hope from despair.
O how He loves you
O how He loves me;
O how He loves you and me!
