Debate flared quickly over Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson’s interview for GQ magazine. Sharing his personal views, he paraphrased the sexual sins from Romans 1 and 1 Corinthians 6, where the Apostle Paul labeled homosexual behavior to be sin and warns that those who practice these sins, along with many others, will not inherit God’s kingdom.
Reaction from homosexual activists and the mainstream media has prompted A&E to affirm their strong support of the Lesbian Gay Bi-Sexual and Transgender (LGBT) community. They then suspended Phil indefinitely from filming their top-rated reality show.
The “Duck Commander” has had substantial support from fans on social media petitions, with some seeing the suspension as a religious liberty concern. A&E Channel has now reversed its decision, after ratings drastically dropped and over half a million people “liked” a Facebook page demanding A&E be boycotted and a petition for Phil’s return gained more than 250,000 signatures.
We agree with Phil’s Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who observed: “It is a messed up situation when Miley Cyrus gets a laugh, and Phil Robertson gets suspended.”
