Immigration Reformation

prohibido1The student government at UCLA recently resolved to ban the term “illegal immigrant” because they consider it as “racially derogatory language” which has led to “racial profiling practices, punitive policies targeting socially-marginalized groups, hate crimes and violence.”

Whether you or I agree with this esoteric line of academic thinking, it is a reminder that our country’s immigration system is broken. It doesn’t reflect our Judeo-Christian commitment to the values of

  • human dignity,
  • family unity and
  • respect for the rule of law,

that define us as Americans.

Let us join with thousands across the country in thinking about and praying for immigration reformation through the Pray4Reform campaign of the Evangelical Immigration Table.

Pray that God gives our congressional leaders wisdom and courage as they deliberate and vote on legislation that is vital for the future of our churches, cities and nation.
