Wikiality

stevenAs you may know from using Wikipedia, the popular online information resource, a “wiki” is a process or document on the web that anyone can add to or modify.  If enough users agree, it becomes “true.”

Political satirist Stephen Colbert (host of The Colbert Report, on The Comedy Central television channel) has coined the term Wikiality, which is reality as determined by a majority vote, as when astronomers voted Pluto off their list of planets!

Colbert has also introduced another term to our modern culture, Truthiness. He describes it this way: “ Truthiness is what you want to be true, as opposed to what the facts support. Truthiness is a truth larger than the facts which comprise it.” Fifty-one percent becomes the final arbiter of reality.

However, families need to renew objective, biblical truths, scriptural standards and holy reality, rather than some subjective “truthiness.” Jesus is still “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
