While Congress has lost its backbone on some pro-life issues in recent terms, local leaders, from states from which the feckless federal officials come, have accomplished some amazing pro-life victories.
The Family Research Council reports that North Dakota passed a heartbeat bill and tighter restrictions on gender-based abortions. Next, Kentucky got into the act with special protections for religious liberty. Then, Alabama legislators passed a policy that would raise the safety standards in local abortion clinics–while Washington State Senator Randi Becker single-handedly blocked a bill that would have forced every regional health plan to cover abortion.
At the same time, Kansas became the 14th state to define life “at fertilization“ and acted to outlaw sex-selection abortion, as well. Pro-Life Governor Sam Brownback is expected to sign both bills very soon.
We praise God for these “Leaders for Life.”
