“Family Safe” Listening / Viewing?

on_airPerhaps you’ve heard stations like ours, promote that they are “family safe,” meaning that their content is safe to listen to with children in the car or room with you. That is because discerning parents realize so much of what goes out on radio and television is offensive language, if not legally indecent content.

Now the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced it has dismissed about one million indecency complaints, that had been sitting in files for years, saying their Enforcement Bureau will now only pursue “egregious” complaints. This change is a shock to the American public and invites yet another wave of special interest pressure to prevent the intent of Congress and the will of the American people.

Let’s contact our federally elected officials to question the FCC on this shocking shift in their responsibility to protect children and others from broadcast indecency. Either material is legally indecent or it is not.
