Holidays are for Honoring

Lincoln_WashingtonBoomers and older citizens of the U. S. of A. remember February for featuring the birthdays/holidays of two of our most beloved presidents: Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12) and George Washington (Feb. 22).

Somewhere during the “Imperial Presidency” of Richard Nixon, Congress came up with the idea of a common celebration for all our 40 Plus Presidents. The new PRESIDENTS DAY became part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, giving us the many long holiday-weekends to enjoy each year.

It is fitting that our families stop to celebrate the lives of these who have served our nation in this key role of leadership. The Bible teaches us to not hold back honor from those to whom it is due (Proverbs 3:27). This holiday also gives us opportunity to be reminded of the character qualities in the lives of these men, which are remembered even centuries later!

How about your life? A hundred years from now, what will you and your family have left behind that can be honored? What will your legacy be?
