The Saints in Sanford

I just read an article by a pastor from Sanford, Florida, about 20 miles north of downtown Orlando, where the tragic killing of 17 year old Trayvon Martin has gained worldwide attention. This local spiritual leader was trying to bring clarity and godly perspective on this volatile situation. He challenged the saints in Sanford to pray and claim spiritual authority to turn back a “cloud of spiritual oppression,” which he perceived was pressuring their city and our nation.

While not wanting outside political pressures or opportunists to cause authorities to rush to judgment, this discerning pastor urged the Body of Christ to stand up for righteousness and justice to prevail and to pray for God’s wisdom, will and order to rule, in this sad situation in Sanford.

Racial myopias will portray this as a black problem, a Hispanic problem or a white problem. It is a heart problem.

Only Jesus can set us free from sin and selfishness!
