In his book, Germ Theory, author William Shumay, Jr. makes a case that sexual abstinence before marriage and monogamy afterwards are keys for keeping dangerous diseases at bay. His research indicates that intimate human contact with a number of partners increases the odds of picking up a tumor virus, a brain infection, or perhaps the germ for an inflammation that leads to a heart attack—years later.
Shumay suggests that sexual celibacy before marriage and sexual faithfulness after marriage may be more important to good health than eating habits, exercise and attitude. You see, condoms fail but abstinence does not. Abstinence saves lives and it works every time!
Good health can also be a by-product of a holy lifestyle. Taking care of our bodies is a way to glorify God! Therefore, what we eat, how we live and even when we rest are all part of God’s keys to good health and healing!
