The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed a measure, in a vote of 234-182, for an amendment that prohibits federal funding to be used to train medical residents on how to perform abortions. H.R. 1216 would change some provisions of a program established by last year’s controversial healthcare reform law and includes barring health centers, funded through the program, from discriminating against residents and other healthcare professionals, who refuse to perform or refer for abortions.
The amendment’s sponsor, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R.-N.C.), said “If organizations want to provide elective abortions or train abortion doctors, they need to find someone other than taxpayers to write the checks.”
At Worship On The Way, we agree and are encouraged by the passage of this amendment proposal. Now, let’s contact our Senators and urge they pass this important measure as well!
