Freedoms vs. Fundamentalists

The looming threat of a nuclear Iran or the almost complete absence of individual freedoms in most of the 21 Islamic nations in the Middle East seems of little concern to some U.S. politicians. Though the “Arab Spring” has toppled some repressive Islamic dictators, they are systematically being replaced by repressive Islamic fundamentalists.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports a dramatic drop in the presence of Christians throughout the Middle East, with Bethlehem’s Christian population now a third of what it was 35 years ago. The article relates one estimate that more than 200,000 persecuted Coptic Christians will have left Egypt by the end of last year.

The only exception is the freedoms-oriented, democratically-governed country of Israel, where Christians have more than quadrupled since 1948.  There, Arabs and Jews live together and guard the religious liberties and holy sites of Jews, Christians and Muslims.

The “Invented” People

When former history professor Newt Gingrich made the bold statement about Palestinians being “an invented people” he was referencing the fact that (historically) the Arabs, of the area the Romans called “Palestine,” have never been a sovereign nation, with their own language, culture, or money.

Following centuries of Turkish and British control, the UN partition plan of 1947 called for the division of the historic Palestine into two states, one “Jewish” and the other “Arab.” Transjordan was created for the Arabs on the eastern side of the Jordan River, while the Jews, whose history and culture were inextricably recognized to be associated with the western side, were designated the land between the river and the Mediterranean Sea.

Peace can only come to the Middle East when the Islamic Arabs—including the “invented” Palestinians—give up their religiously-discriminatory dream of wiping Israel, the Jewish state, off the map.

The Jewish Messiah from Israel

More Jews live in the modern state of Israel than anywhere else in the world. It was ruled for millennia by foreign occupiers, but for over six decades God has been re-gathering Jews back to this historic heritage.

In biblical days, God specifically commanded His people, Israel, to “go up” to Jerusalem three times a year to celebrate the feasts of Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles. Jews from all over the Mediterranean region thronged to Jerusalem to bring their sacrifices, study the Torah, and rejoice together.

Israel’s King David bought a threshing floor in Jerusalem as a future site for the House of the Lord, which King Solomon later built there. To this day, the only recorded deed for the land, know as the Temple Mount, is recorded in the Bible.

At this season, the whole world acknowledges Jesus of Nazareth, Who is the Jewish Messiah (the Christ of Israel) and our Savior! It is this “Good News” we proclaim to the world!

Freed Palestinians Want to Kill Again!

In exchange for Gilad Shalit, the kidnapped Israeli soldier, Israel freed over 1,000 jailed Palestinian terrorists. Instead of using their new freedom to focus on good and peaceful purposes, many are already declaring their intentions to try to kill Jews again.

Many of those freed were failed suicide bombers, like Wafa-al-Bis, a female Islamist who had obtained a permit for medical treatment in Israel but intended to blow up the hospital instead. When Israeli soldiers inspected her at a border crossing, they found a 22-pound bomb sewed into her underwear. She tried to kill the soldiers, but the bomb malfunctioned.

She is now free and says she wants to kill Jewish civilians again. Her mother declares that her daughter’s Jihadist aspiration is “an honorable thing and I am proud of her.”

Alarming Anti-Semitic Protesters

Throughout history, poor economic conditions have formed the backdrop of hateful anti-Semitism. Whether it was the 13th century expulsion of Jews from England or the 19th century Russian pogroms or the Nazi Holocaust, insidious anti-Semitic hate speech always preceded hateful, violent actions.

Consequently, it is not surprising that some of the economic protesters at the Wall Street sit-in and other “occupations” have used graphic signs and obscene language to blame “Wall St. Jews” and “Jewish Billionaires” for America’s financial woes. One Occupy LA protester told Reason TV, “Zionist Jews… need to be run out of this country.”

This kind of hateful rhetoric is alarming and deserves a firm repudiation by the mainstream American media and political leaders—along with all of us, who serve the Jewish Messiah—Yeshua—our Savior!
